In this study, conductive polymer (CP) and metal organic framework (MOF) were used as composite electrodes to realize the first 1000-cycle cycle of Li-S battery at 16.8 A/g charge and discharge current, revealing the MOF material in electrochemical energy storage devices. The huge application prospects were selected by the magazine as VIP articles and were selected as internal cover displays.

The paper is entitled Metal–Organic Frameworks for High Charge–Discharge Rates in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries (High Charge and Discharge Rate Lithium-Sulfur Battery Based on Metal-Organic Framework Materials). Deng Hexiang and Ke Fusheng are the authors of the communication. Doctoral student Jiang Haoqing and master student Liu Xiaochen are the co-authors. Other authors include graduate students Yu Yushan, Gong Yi, and Shu Yufei.

For a long time, the application of MOF materials has focused on the fields of gas separation, storage, and catalysis. Due to conductivity limitations, MOF pays less attention to electrochemical applications. How to give full play to the advantages of MOF polar channel transport ions and improve conductivity is of decisive significance. The traditional path is to directly design and synthesize conductive MOF. Instead of using this path, the researchers combined the conductive polymer with MOF and successfully increased the conductivity by 7 orders of magnitude. As a cathode of lithium-sulfur battery, the composite has a capacity of 440 mAh/g after 1000 cycles of charge and discharge at a large current density of 10.0 C (16.8 A/g), and the rate performance is superior to that of the conventional carbon-based sulfur-containing material. By comparing a variety of pore topologies, the researchers first discovered that the pore structure of MOF has an important effect on the electrochemical performance at high magnification. The MOF with a transparent cross structure is very beneficial for ion diffusion, and its large rate charge and discharge performance* *.
