Specific forecast: From 18 to 20, most of Jianghan, south of Jianghuai, Jiangnan, most of southern China, eastern Sichuan, Chongqing, eastern Guizhou and other places have high temperature above 35 °C, including most of Sichuan Basin, Chongqing, and most of Jiangnan. In some areas, the highest temperature can reach 38~39 °C, and most of Chongqing and the southern part of the Sichuan Basin can exceed 40 °C.

At present, the rice in the south of the Yangtze River is in the heading stage, and the double-season late rice is in the tillering or regreening stage, and the cotton is in the flowering and boll stage.

Although the sunny weather can speed up the heading speed of rice, the double-season late rice that is already in the tillering stage can accumulate accumulated temperature, which is beneficial to growth and development. However, long-term high temperatures are also extremely detrimental to crop growth.

Rice is extremely sensitive to temperature during the heading stage. If it encounters a high temperature with a daily average temperature of ≥30 °C and a maximum temperature of ≥35 °C for more than 3 days, it will cause premature aging of rice leaves, yellowing, delayed flowering, dispersion, and even flower closure. In the end, the rice seed setting rate is reduced, and the 1000-grain weight is reduced, which affects the yield.

The cotton along the south of the Yangtze River is in the flowering and boll period. The continuous high temperature easily causes the flower, bud and bell to fall off, and the cotton fiber matures shortened, which affects the cotton yield and quality.

At present, the high temperature along the river has lasted for 3 days and will continue in the future, which is extremely unfavorable for crop growth. Agricultural experts recommend:

1. Master the water layer management for the rice in the heading stage of the booting stage, shallow water irrigation, daily irrigation, and timely drying to improve the microclimate in the field.

2. For cotton with positive flowering and bolling period, the cotton branches and leaves can be sprinkled in the morning or evening to increase the relative humidity between the cotton trees and reduce the temperature to achieve the purpose of improving the microclimate in the cotton field.

3. The leaf area of ​​the middle and late rice population reaches the maximum, the temperature is high, and the field microclimate with large air humidity is very suitable for the occurrence of various pests and diseases. Therefore, we must do a good job in the prevention and control of pests and diseases and reduce disaster losses.
