Foreign investors are not afraid of chaos in Thai political situation

Despite the recent Thai political situation is not optimistic, but Thailand's furniture exhibition in March will be held as scheduled. Foreign investors did not have confidence in coming to Thailand to participate in the Thai Furniture Fair and will also participate in this year's furniture fair as scheduled.

The day before yesterday (24th), Dokamon, Deputy Director of the Promotion Department of National Trade, said that although the political situation is still unclear, the organizer still decided to hold the furniture at the Mantong Thani Exhibition Center (Impact) on March 12-16 At the exhibition, 600 foreign investors have registered in advance to visit the exhibition. During the five-day exhibition, it is predicted that the number of visitors will reach 20,000, which can be divided into about 4500 visits on the negotiation day and 155,000 visits on the retail day. The transaction value on the negotiation day is estimated to be 520 million baht, which is divided into about 60 million baht for immediate purchase and about 460 million baht for order within one year. Retail sales are estimated at about 30 million baht.

The organizer will increase the promotion and attract more people to visit the furniture exhibition, instead of canceling the part of the itinerary for visiting the trade fair, because of concerns about the development of the domestic political situation. The organizers are targeting ASEAN countries. Because people from these countries come to Thailand more conveniently than the EU, the itinerary planning takes less time, and they can travel back and forth on the same day. At the same time, ASEAN countries, especially Myanmar, have development potential and are building a large number of luxury hotels.

Dokamon revealed that overall, the total value of furniture exports in 2013 was 1,237.81 million US dollars, up 8.34%. The top five export markets with the highest furniture export growth rate are Russia, with an increase of 210.92%; Vietnam's growth rate is 77.42%; Myanmar's growth rate is 50.59%; Malaysia's growth rate is 38.35%; South Africa's growth rate is 36.18%. This year's furniture export target is 1.3 billion US dollars.

The chairman of the furniture industry of the Thai Academy of Industry Willa Chai pointed out that some foreign investors are worried about the domestic political situation and lack confidence in the domestic situation. However, after explaining the domestic situation to foreign customers such as Japan and Europe, the other party believes that the Thai political situation has not been too serious. The violence, despite the promulgation of an emergency law, still has confidence in Thailand and decided to participate in this year's furniture exhibition as scheduled.
