Meyer Burger, a large photovoltaic equipment supplier in Switzerland, recently announced that it will start a project with the Swiss CSEM Photovoltaic Center to reduce the production cost of Heterojunction Silicon (HJT) photovoltaic technology cells and demonstrate the superiority of this technology.

The two companies plan to set up a pilot production system for HJT photovoltaic cells. In addition, the project was jointly supported by the Swiss Federal Energy Office, industry partners, and the state of Neuchâtel, with funding of up to 11 million U.S. dollars.

HJT cell monocrystalline silicon wafers are equipped with ultra-thin layer amorphous silicon deposits on both sides. This type of technology can increase the efficiency of standard crystalline silicon technology and reduce process flow.

Meyer Burger Highlights HJT Photovoltaic Technology Has Many Advantages

Meyer Burger pointed out that the temperature characteristics of HJT photovoltaic technology and the ability to produce bifacial photovoltaic cells can lead to improved photovoltaic efficiency of the battery. This technology can reduce the cost of mass production of photovoltaic modules to less than $0.70 per watt.
