The University of Singapore is testing a flash charge shuttle that takes only 20 seconds to complete the charge

A few years ago, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore tested an automatic driving shuttle that can transport passengers around campus. Now, the university is testing an electric shuttle with a driver, but it only takes 20 seconds to complete the charge. This 22-seater, called the NTU blue solution Flash Shuttle, is based on the existing Bluetram shuttle manufactured by BlueSG, a subsidiary of the Blueloré Group's Blue Solutions.

Although this shuttle has a battery pack that can be recharged, its cruising range can reach 30 kilometers (19 miles) if needed, but this is mainly used as a backup battery. It is mainly powered by a super capacitor and can be charged at an airport ferry station within 20 seconds. Charging is accomplished through a retractable connector, which can travel 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) after each charge, so the station spacing is corresponding.

Blue Solutions stated that the installation and operating costs of this shuttle are much lower than traditional electric vehicles because it does not require infrastructure such as rails or overhead wires. According to reports, the full range of charging stations can be installed in a few weeks.

The bus is undergoing a two-year test and the service officially started on Tuesday.
