Russia invests heavily in revitalizing the machine tool industry

Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy Andre Russ said recently that the revitalization of the Russian machine tool industry will cost about 60 billion rubles. Among them, new product development requires an investment of 20 billion rubles. By 2015, the size of the Russian domestic machine tool market will grow to 125 billion to 130 billion rubles per year, and the number of machine tools will reach 100,000. By then, the output of Russian machine tool products will increase to 75,000 units (the output in 2006 will be 7,000 units), and the annual investment will increase to 10 billion rubles.
In mid-2007, Andre Russ said at the meeting of the Russian Government Committee on Industrial, Transport and Technology Development that "the inert development of the machine tool industry may lead to the absolute dependence of Russia's domestic machine manufacturing industry on imports."
In order to ensure the demand for modern process equipment in Russia's domestic machine manufacturing system, Russia adopted national measures to ensure the development of Russia's domestic machine tool industry, as follows:
- Promote the procurement of Russian domestic machining equipment for machine tool technology equipment upgrades;
- Promote the products of the machine tool industry to foreign markets and expand the export volume through the current mechanism;
- Eliminate the technological gap in the machine tool industry by relying on research and design work in priority areas;
- Develop heavy-duty precision machining equipment for dual process applications to ensure national security and implement national defense planning;
- Development of metal cutting tools for machine tools for dual process applications;
- Development of high-tech equipment for machining equipment and tool manufacturing processes;
- Creating conditions for further rapid development of technological potential reproduction and high-tech machine tool products, such as the development of the implementation system for scientific research and design work in the machine tool industry;
-- The structure of the machine tool industry is designed to increase the economic benefits of the industry and increase the profitability, investment attractiveness, and productivity.
